Cercocarpus ledifolius, (Curl Leaf Mountain Mahogany)

Curl Leaf Mountain Mahogany is a hardy evergreen shrub native to the mountainous regions of western North America, particularly the Sierra and Rocky Mountains. Known for its leathery, dark green leaves and striking seed tails, this plant is well-suited for dry, rocky, and exposed sites. It is often found in higher elevations and is valued for its resilience in drought-prone and poor soil conditions. It has a great many medicinal uses for various Indigenous Peoples, such as the Paiute and the Shoshone.
