Chief Joseph Lodgepole Pineis a deep, golden yellow color in winter form, an evolving beacon of color and interest in the winter landscape. Light to medium green during spring, summer and well into fall, this very slow-growing Lodgepole Pine changes color dramatically as days shorten and temperatures drop--then it's a daily color show! It thrives in well-drained soils and is tolerant of various soil conditions. A slow-growing dwarf with an upright pyramidal form with slightly contorted branches that might reach 20 ft tall in maturity. Chief Joseph (1840-1904) was the chief of the Wallow Valley Nez Perce tribe.
