Big Sagebrush is a hardy, aromatic shrub native to the Great Basin and Sierra Nevada. It is moderately fast growing and long-lived. It grows in an upright form to a height of 5 feet, with active growth during the spring, summer, fall. Flowers are yellow and bloom in the late summer. Leaves are gray-green and deciduous. It tends to grow in meadows and streambanks and gravelly places, at elevations from 5200-10800 feet.
